Welcome to the website of the Bridgwater and District Archaeological Society.

The society was founded in 1963 as the Bridgwater Field Club. Its aims were to study the history and archaeology of Bridgwater and District, and to observe and record all excavations in the area and members excavated many local sites during the following years. They deposited their finds in the Bridgwater Blake Museum. In 1964 it changed its name to the Bridgwater and District Archaeological Society.

More recently, talks by archaeological experts take place during the winter on each third Thursday evening of the month in the Blake Museum. There are walks and excursions to places of archaeological interest in Somerset and beyond in the summer months including a coach trip and an annual dinner.

Non-Members are Welcome. A quarterly newsletter is produced to keep members up to date as does the Society’s website.

Bridgwater and District Archaeological Society
